Introduction
Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok County lies in central Hungary and shares borders with the Hungarian counties Pest, Heves, Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén, Hajdú-Bihar, Békés, Csongrád, and Bács-Kiskun. The rivers Tisza and Körös flow through the county. The capital of Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok County is Szolnok.
The Disaster Management Directorate of Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok County plays an important role in the system of the Central Hungarian Disaster Management. Its law enforcement body with national competence is the National Directorate General for Disaster Management, Ministry of the Interior (NDGDM) which is established by the integration of civil protection and the national and regional bodies of the state fire departments and performs administrative tasks. The regional bodies of the NDGDM are the County Disaster Management Directorates that have supervisory rights over the Disaster Management Branch Offices that are functioning as local bodies.
Disaster Management Directorate of Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok County has four Disaster Mangement Branch Offices (Szolnok, Jászberény, Karcag, Mezőtúr) and the Directorate also has supervisory rights over the professional fire departments of its region (Szolnok, Jászberény, Karcag, Mezőtúr, Tiszafüred, Kunszentmárton).
The professional organization was established on 1st January 2000 and renewed with new organizational structures and broadened with further professional contents on 1st January 2012.
Our main mission is preparing for the protection against disasters, protecting the lives and the property of the civil population, preventing emergencies and cooperating in the elimination of the negative consequences of emergencies.
Thousands of people, working in the system of the national Disaster Management- professionals, public servants, officials and volunteers- form a community, which is devoted to work for the solution of real problems thus helping in the time of tribulation.
Our undertaken duties are diversifiying and wide-ranging: the tasks are ranging from the prevention of disasters, of serious accidents caused by dangerous goods and the preparing for them, to the prevention from the threats posed to people’s goods, from the intervention to the performing reconstruction and rehabilitation. The organization also controls the national fire protection system.
Our goal is to meet all the needs that are indispensable in order to operate an effective disaster-relief system in Hungary in case of industrial or natural disasters.
Carrying out its task as an authority is especially important in the law enforcement of Hungary, since the authoritative scope of powers of the Directorate, among others, are the means of the guarantee of public security:

to operate the authoritative licensing and supervision system of the hazardous industrial establishments;

carrying out the authoritative inspections of the transportation of dangerous goods on public roads;

the market supervision of construction products, fire protection equipments;

licensing the procedure of the installation and maintenance of built-in automatic fire extinguisher equipments, not regulated by the national standard;

licensing the derogation from the fire protection regulations in the construction of buildings and structures;

administrative and authoritative task in connection with fire safety related expert cases

fire protection tasks related to the civil national security services;

second instance fire protection and civil protection specialized competent authority in the territory of the capital city.
